Weekend is here!
My afternoon didn’t go as quickly as my morning, but not bad. It’s over now and that’s all that matters!
Came home, changed and headed directly to W3D2 with the running group. Very windy/cold tonight, but we got 1.89 miles done. Tomorrow morning we’re wrapping up Week 3. Typically we’d space it out, but weather delayed D2 and everyone is anxious to move on to Week 4.
I have a weekend of school work ahead. And running. I’m looking forward to laying low and close to home. Even if it isn’t for fun reason.
On an exciting note, the medal was released for the Airport Challenge I’m doing in April. It’s NICE (and big)!

Alright, early to bed. Have a good weekend everyone =)
Ready to relax!
I’ve been on the go since the alarm went off at 6:45 this morning, I’m beat!
Kicked off the day wrapping up week 2 with the C25K group. Two miles. Very cold and windy. Lots of ice and packed snow, but we were all careful and came out of it safely.
I did another 3.18 miles on my own. They weren’t fast. It’s hard to be fast when you have 3 layers of clothing on. I felt pretty weighed down. Pace ended up 11:39 for the remainder of the run.
After that I helped my dad move for a while. That was my strength training for the day. He’s actually moving in with us. He needs some help right now and I’m glad that I can be there for him. He’s always been there for me. It will just take some getting use to and adjustments on part of everyone. Our kids will be sharing a bedroom so that Grampie can have his own space. Both are giving up quite a bit and I’m proud of them for it. It’s a temporary arrangement and we’ll all get through it.
After moving dad we got our weekend “chores” done. That means groceries, dump and start the laundry process. It’s definitely time to relax and enjoy some down time. We’re currently watching a recording of the Olympic Marathon time trials. It’s making me itchy to run another marathon. That’s not a very relaxing thought…. =)
C25K Group W2D2 Complete!
So proud of this group for plugging along. They were even a little faster today =) We ended up covering 2.21 miles.
I had 3 on the training schedule and tomorrow listed as a rest day. I decided to just stick with the 2.21 and I’ll be doing at least 1 tomorrow to keep the streak alive. I’m still working on incorporating school back into my schedule and have some more to do tonight for yesterdays class. I’m going to do that instead of more running. Eventually I’ll find a way to fit it all in.
Eating is still going GREAT!
As an aside, there is so much going on at work right now. I wish I could tell you all about it, but can’t just yet. In due time. It’s a big opportunity for me and I’m hoping it comes together the way I envision. I needed the outside fresh air and run tonight to give my head a break.
Now, supper - school work - snuggling.
Till tomorrow!
Another week begins.
I had a great day. My creative juices are flowing in the work arena and my boss is listening. I’m hoping this leads to some exciting opportunities.
After work I ran 1.65 miles on my own and then met up with the C25K group and we completed W2D1. We covered another 2.39 miles. Everyone is doing great and seems to be really happy with the program. There have been consistently 5 of us running together; although, not always the exact same 5.
This C25K group is pretty amazing. I went through the entire group and it appears that of the 30 people that are members on the facebook group page 19 (if not a few more) are actually doing it. 1 person is doing it and not in the actual group on facebook (my dad). 1 person is biking and doing other activities. 1 person is doing Jillians 30 day shred (due to foot injury). They are all actively posting or e-mailing me their progress. It’s such an awesome thing to be a part of. My heart is happy.
Lucky me, classes officially start up tomorrow. Biology. If it wasn’t crazy enough for me already, it’s about to be magnified by 100 by the end of the week.
I love every minute of it!
Now, BATH. This may be the only moment of relaxation I get till Saturday.
Number of the day, 3.
Due to weather yesterday, C25K group got postponed till today. This morning 5 of us met up and completed Week 1 Day 3! We changed our route a bit due to the slippery sidewalks and they loved the change. 2.05 miles were covered!
Since I had 3 miles on the training calendar I did another mile on my own. Tomorrow I have 5 miles to cover and my first week back at training will be spot on =)
For lunch we met up with some family at Buffalo Wild Wings. I was kinda nervous about going there because tomorrow morning is our first weigh-in of the new year and I’ve been doing great with my eating all week. BWW is my favorite and not necessarily calorie friendly. I did AWESOME. I only had 3 wings (unbelievable!), 1 buffalito and some fries. It wasn’t too bad and I still have about 800 calories left for the day!
Now, we watch Midnight in Paris to round out our evening.
It’s been a pretty perfect day. I forgot how great it is to start the day with a run. I need to do that more often!
I am spent!
No Very little sleep last night has left me exhausted all day. I didn’t let that slow me down.
W1D2 with the C25K group is done! There were 5 of us tonight. Two said Monday they wouldn’t be able to make it and another messaged that she was sick. The 5 from tonight said they’ll be back Friday and we’ll also have some new faces coming that have been doing the program at home, but will be joining up when they can.
The temps tonight were COLD. Warmer than the 1 degree it was this morning, but only by about 10-15 degrees. We covered 2.03 miles. I’m so proud of them all. They seem to be really enjoying our time out there which is just fantastic. As an added bonus I am getting to reconnect with some fabulous people from my high school days, bond with my dad, and get closer to some recent new friends. It’s a WIN / WIN all the way around. I couldn’t be more pleased.
Afterwards I chatted with my dad for a bit before going our separate ways. I originally had planned running an additional 3 around the block on my own, but after I got all warmed up in the truck chatting I just wanted to get back home. I didn’t give up on the miles though. After supper and getting the kids to bed I went down to the basement and got them done on the treadmill.
2.5 miles, 25:31, 10’12” pace
Getting a little faster everyday without even trying. The training schedule called for 3 and I planned on doing them in addition to C25K mileage, but on little sleep and it already being 8:30PM by the time I climbed on the ‘mill I decided on 2.5. I figure that in the 8 minutes of total running time and 2 miles total we covered during C25K I was bound to have covered at least a 1/2 mile of it running.
Eating remained stellar and I once again I consumed 80 oz of water. I think this is about my limit for water intake. Instead of feeling better about my body from all the changes I’ve made this week I feel like I have a big ‘ole bloated water belly. Even with all the peeing.
Now, I go to sleep and hopefully don’t wake up until the alarm tells me to.
Group C25K (W1D1)
I’m a happy girl.
NINE! There were 9 of us out there tonight for our inaugural run.
I had no expectations. I didn’t know who, if anyone, would be showing up. Some said they would, but you never know. Things come up. You get nervous. You’re not really invested yet. At least that is how I have felt on occasion (and sometimes still do). But, they came!
I was nervous. Very.
When I got there and saw a number of cars waiting. I let out a breath I didn’t realize I had been holding. I had a route/block planned out, but didn’t know how it would really work with timing. I wasn’t sure if I should be up front or hang towards the back. I wasn’t sure how to tell people to run/walk. It ended up being perfect. Well, perfect enough.
My nerves quickly calmed. The time FLEW by. Everyone got through it. Everyone was happy at the end! It was great!
So, yeah. I’m a happy girl. I don’t know how many will show up on a continual basis. A couple said that most of their runs would be at work, but that they’d meet up when the could. The rest seemed committed to continuing running as a group, outside. There are others that couldn’t make it today, but plan on joining us for some runs. There are others that have checked in from around the globe that are doing it on their own, but using the group as motivation/support.
It really doesn’t even matter. All that matters is today. Today those people made the effort. They got out there and they did what so many others will never do. They took the steps. For me, today I paid it forward. Today I made a difference. Today, I got better.
It’s all one day at a time. Every.Single.Day.
Baby steps. C25K style.
I wrote about it a few weeks ago, but I’m starting a C25K group. I am really looking forward to it and it is finally coming together!
When I first put word out on facebook about my idea I wasn’t sure how it would go over. If at all. I got about 20 people that were interested. Of those 15 have committed and a few others that weren’t originally included have decided to come on board. How fun!
Some of the people in the group will be doing it on their own as they live out of town or state. They just wanted a place to ask questions, learn more and be able to discuss the program with others going through it. They felt it would also help keep them accountable. Most have crazy schedules and are creating their own little groups within the group to do the run/walks together during the day or at night. I think it is great seeing all these people come together. Some of whom don’t even know each other.
I look at my role in this as someone to bring the people together, provide some information/guidance from what I’ve learned the last couple years, and lastly to join in on runs with them when I can. This is their program. Their journey. I just want to be there to support and motivate them. If even just one of them goes all the way through and completes C25K I will feel as though I have succeeded. Only time will tell.
The official start date is 1/2/12. What a great way to kick off the new year!
Let the baby steps begin =)
